OPIS:

Operation Flashpoint: Red River to trzecia część zapoczątkowanej w 2001 roku serii gier akcji. Podobnie jak poprzednie tytuły z cyklu, najnowsza odsłona koncentruje się na wiarygodnym przedstawieniu realiów pola walki i zapewnieniu taktycznej głębi wszystkim starciom. Za produkcję odpowiada ten sam zespół, który stworzył drugą część (a jednocześnie inny, niż ten odpowiedzialny za pierwszą odsłonę), czyli wewnętrzne studio Codemasters.

Akcja gry toczy się na terenach Tadżykistanu. Kraj ten osadzony jest pomiędzy Afganistanem, Uzbekistanem, Kirgistanem oraz Chinami, a jego historia kształtowana była zarówno przez wpływy azjatyckie jak i sowieckie. Zapewnia to olbrzymią różnorodność architektoniczną odwiedzanych miejsc. Fabułę Red River rozbito na trzy akty, a twórcy otwarcie przyznają, że wzorowali się na współczesnych filmach wojennych takich jak Jarhead, The Hurt Locker czy serial Generation Kill. Dzięki temu nadano konfliktowi zbrojnemu bardziej ludzki wymiar, co osiągnięto m.in. przez wprowadzenie barwnych i regularnych komentarzy towarzyszących nam żołnierzy, czy dbałość o detale takie jak wyraźnie podniszczony wizualnie ekwipunek.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River jest zdecydowanie bardziej przystępna dla zwykłego gracza niż poprzednie odsłony cyklu, choć wciąż zachowuje realizm. Przerobieniu uległ sposób wydawania rozkazów, dzięki czemu nie musimy już za każdym razem przedzierać się przez kilkustopniowe menu. Strzelanie i obsługa broni są teraz bardziej płynne, co zostało osiągnięte przez wprowadzenie systemu wspomagającego celowanie, znanego m.in. z serii Call of Duty. Oczywiście, dla fanów realizmu przewidziano opcję wyłączenia wszystkich pomocy. Zaimplementowano również system zdobywania doświadczenia oraz podzielono postacie na klasy (strzelec, grenadier, zwiadowca oraz strzelec automatyczny). Współdziała z tym ulepszona sztuczna inteligencja zarówno wrogów, jak i sił sprzymierzonych.

Red River oferuje rozbudowany tryb kooperacji wzorowany na rozwiązaniach z Left 4 Dead. Oznacza to, że w grę wbudowany został system dynamicznie zmieniający sytuację na polu walki zależnie od naszych poczynań. Wszystko po to, byśmy mogli z przyjaciółmi wielokrotnie przechodzić te same misje bez znudzenia. Zaimplementowane tryby wieloosobowe polegają na obronie jadącego konwoju (opcja Convoy), uratowaniu zaginionego pilota (opcja Search and Rescue) oraz obronie bazy przed falami wroga (Last Man Standing). Oprócz tego dostępny jest popularny Cooperative dla maksymalnie 4 osób.
